The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday imposed a two-match ban on Lahore Qalandars’ opening batsman Fakhar Zaman for ball-tampering.
According to a statement issued by the board, Zaman was found guilty of breaching the PCB’s code of conduct under Article 2.14, which prohibits altering the condition of the ball.
The incident occurred during the match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings in HBL PSL 11. Umpires had penalised the Qalandars with five runs and changed the ball during the game.
Zaman did not accept the charges and presented his defence during a full hearing. Match referee Roshan Mahanama ruled on the matter after the hearing, which was attended by Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sameen Rana, and the team’s manager.
The Qalandars’ next match is scheduled for April 3 against Multan Sultans, followed by a game on April 9 against Islamabad United. Zaman will not be participating in either of these matches.
The ban, which followed a Level 3 violation, mandates a suspension of at least one match but can extend to a maximum of two.
