Her siblings issue statement after former prince’s release, say ‘the walls are closing in’ on him

The family of Virginia Roberts Giuffre says former royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is now feeling the pressure of the ongoing legal scrutiny following his recent arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office in the United Kingdom.
Giuffre’s siblings, Sky and Amanda Roberts and Danny and Lanette Wilson, issued a statement after Andrew was released from custody, saying they believe “the walls are closing in” and that he’s “sweating now.”
They added that the former prince should have faced accountability years ago and noted that they hope the legal process continues to move forward. The family also reiterated that Andrew was “never a prince,” emphasising their longstanding belief that he should be held responsible for his alleged actions.
Andrew was arrested earlier this month by UK authorities amid an investigation into whether he shared sensitive or confidential information with the late Jeffrey Epstein while serving as a British trade envoy. He was later released under investigation pending further inquiries.
The family’s comments come as renewed focus has been placed on the Epstein saga after documents were made public, and as mounting legal pressure remains on Andrew. Giuffre’s family described their reaction to the developments as both emotional and vindicating, saying they hope the case continues to bring accountability for survivors everywhere.
Giuffre, who was one of Epstein’s most prominent victims, died by suicide in April 2025 at age 41. Her family members have long advocated for justice on behalf of survivors of trafficking and abuse, and their recent statement reflects both grief and determination that legal systems address long?standing allegations tied to Andrew and others connected to Epstein.
The investigation into Andrew’s conduct is ongoing. Authorities have stressed the importance of preserving the integrity of the case while it continues to unfold, and any potential charges have yet to be determined as investigators gather more evidence.
Giuffre pursued criminal and civil actions against Epstein and Maxwell, suing Maxwell for defamation in 2015 after Maxwell called her a “liar”; with the case settled in 2017 for an undisclosed sum. In 2015, Giuffre founded Victims Refuse Silence, a United States-based non-profit organization supporting survivors of abuse, which relaunched as Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (SOAR) in 2021. In 2014 she claimed Alan Dershowitz sexually abused her (which he denied), and then in 2022 retracted those claims.
FBI investigators were unable to substantiate that Epstein ‘lent’ girls out to other powerful men, and stated in a 2019 memo that she gave ‘shifting accounts’, and made public statements described as ‘sensationalized’ or ‘demonstrably inaccurate’.
