Cabinet sanctions 639 additional plots for KPC

.
KARACHI:
The Sindh cabinet has formally approved the allocation of 639 additional residential plots for eligible members of the Karachi Press Club (KPC), resolving a long-standing demand from the journalistic community.
The decision was made during a cabinet meeting on Thursday, where ministers reviewed a proposal concerning the land allocation.
The KPC had initially been allotted 1,271 plots through the Lyari Development Authority (LDA). Following a request for an additional 700 plots, the number was verified to cover 639 eligible members.
The proposal, which was subsequently approved, included the LDA’s request for authorisation to plan, allocate, and develop the plots on 125 acres in Hawke’s Bay Scheme-42 and to approve the release of necessary development funds. The local government department confirmed to the cabinet that the revised summary incorporated the required lists of both the 1,271 existing allottees and the 639 newly proposed beneficiaries.
KPC President Fazil Jamili and Secretary Sohail Afzal Khan, along with the governing body members, issued a statement thanking the Sindh government, and specifically CM Murad for his role.
