SHAHDADPUR:

A 35-year-old man, Abdul Ghafoor Khohso, was shot dead in Shahdadpur’s Rashdi Town on Sunday afternoon, just ten days after tying the knot with Saima Khohso of Nawabshah in a love marriage.

According to eyewitnesses, five armed men arrived in a car and forcibly entered Abdul Ghafoor’s house. They opened fire, injuring him. In retaliation, Abdul Ghafoor fired back, wounding two of the attackers. Entrenched in home, Ghafoor went on fighting with his pistol. However, he soon ran out of bullets, whereas the assailants had come armed to the teeth. The inlaws continued firing, killing him on the spot.

The deceased hailed from the village of Dost Muhammad Khohsa. Reports say that the armed men not only took away their injured companions but also abducted Abdul Ghafoor’s wife, Saima. The couple had moved into a new home in Rashdi Town just six days earlier.

Shahdadpur SHO Imran Chandio stated that police have launched an immediate investigation. Security checkpoints have been set up by sealing the city’s entry and exit points, and authorities have assured that the culprits will be arrested soon.

Dr Mumtaz Zardari, who conducted his postmortem at Shahdadpur Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), told The Express Tribune that one bullet struck Khoso’s head and the other ripped through his heart and a lung. The body was hand over to his family after autopsy while the police are yet to register an FIR or arrest any suspect.
