Nowshera hydel power project lauded

.

MUZAFFARABAD:

Chairman District Council Muzaffarabad, Sardar Imtiaz Ahmad Abbasi has termed the approval of the Nowshera Hydel Power Project a historic development for the people of Constituency-IV, lauding the dedicated efforts of Minister for Power Development Organization (PDO), Chaudhry Muhammad Rasheed.
He said that the hydel project, costing Rs. 1.58 billion, would significantly improve electricity supply not only in Union Council Dachor Meeran but throughout the entire constituency.

With the completion of this project, there will be a substantial reduction in load-shedding, along with the creation of new employment opportunities.
Speaking to the media, Sardar Imtiaz Ahmad Abbasi revealed that he had proposed this project to the authorities back in 2007, during the Muslim Conference government. However, at that time, the then Secretary for Energy had shifted it from the public to the private sector, which caused a long delay in its execution.
He added that Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Rasheed took personal interest in the project, bringing it back under the public sector and steering it to the approval stage — a clear reflection of his leadership qualities and commitment to public service.
Sardar Imtiaz Ahmad Abbasi said that the people of Union Council Dachor Meeran, in particular, would benefit from this project. The end of load-shedding would also ease educational activities for students in the area.
He further mentioned that the previously constructed RCC Bridge at Ratti Dhairi was also a blessing for the locals, providing convenient access for residents of Kai Manja and Dachor Meeran.
The District Council Chairman expressed hope that Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Rasheed would continue to meet public expectations regarding educational packages, road construction, and other development projects.
He added that, thanks to the Minister’s personal interest, the federal approval of the Nowshera Hydel Power Project, following the Haryala Kai Manja Hydropower Project and Pithyali Hydropower Project, marks a major achievement. The completion of these projects will bring significant improvement to the energy sector, create employment opportunities for youth, and strengthen the state’s economy.
