Victoria Beckham opens up about building her empire and addresses ongoing Beckham family drama

Appearing on Emma Grede’s podcast, the former Spice Girls star Victoria Beckham opened up about the idea that “Brand Beckham” was never intentional, but something that evolved naturally over time. Reflecting on her early years with David Beckham, she noted that both were already established public figures when they met. On the podcast, Victoria Beckham has spoken candidly about building her family’s £500 million empire, while addressing ongoing allegations and the reported rift with her eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham.
“When people talk about ‘Brand Beckham’, that was never something we even discussed,” she said, adding that her understanding of branding developed during her time in the Spice Girls, while David’s commercial partnerships were already in place. Victoria also addressed parenting under public scrutiny, insisting she was “never a pushy parent” despite raising her children in the spotlight. She acknowledged the pressures her children faced growing up, stressing that her priority had always been to protect them and support their individual paths.
Her comments come amid reports of strained relations with Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, who have reportedly distanced themselves from recent family milestones, including David’s 50th birthday celebrations. During the conversation, questions arose regarding Brooklyn’s recent statement, in which he alleged he had been “controlled by a family that values public promotion above all else,” citing what he described as performative social media and inauthentic relationships.
Responding indirectly, Victoria maintained that her focus as a parent has always been on raising “hard-working and kind” individuals. “It’s never about being pushy, it’s about being there to support,” she said. She also reflected on the challenges of parenting adult children, describing it as a different dynamic altogether. “I’m just trying to do the best that I can. It’s my job to make sure my kids are the best versions of themselves,” she added.
She also hinted at the next generation, revealing that her daughter Harper has already shown an entrepreneurial streak, even pitching her own brand ideas. For Victoria, this ties into a broader ambition to build a legacy brand that outlives her. Drawing on advice from designer Diane von Furstenberg, she added that letting go of guilt and embracing change has been key to both her personal and professional growth.
