24th LSAs set for next month

Awards celebrate two decades of fashion, film, music, and drama with new recognition for digital creators

ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan’s most prestigious celebration of fashion, film, music, and drama is preparing for a grand return this December, as the 24th Lux Style Awards (LSAs) promise an in-person spectacle after several years of disruptions, organisers confirmed on Friday.

Themed ‘Mirror the Magic’, this year’s edition seeks to reflect more than two decades of recognising exceptional talent while embracing innovation across Pakistan’s creative industries, says a press release.

According to the organisers, the ceremony will showcase fresh collaborations between real-life achievers and reel stars, producing unique and never-before-seen moments that celebrate the country’s artistic accomplishments.

“This year’s LSAs introduce a new category dedicated to digital content creators,” said Samir Sultan, one of the organisers of the event. “It acknowledges their growing impact on the creative economy and their role in shaping the future of storytelling.”

With the rapid rise of online platforms and social media-driven content, this category signals the awards’ recognition of how the entertainment landscape is evolving alongside traditional film, music, and fashion.

The LSAs have endured a challenging few years. The 2020 edition was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as global events came to a halt. While winners of the 19th edition were later acknowledged, the event lacked the red-carpet glamour, live performances, and media spectacle.

Similarly, in 2025, the awards faced another disruption. Rising India–Pakistan tensions in May prompted organisers to announce winners of the 23rd LSAs digitally, with no formal gathering. These interruptions underscored the challenges of maintaining continuity in Pakistan’s entertainment events amid global and regional uncertainties.

The return of the LSAs to a physical stage in Karachi next month marks a critical reset, signalling renewed confidence in the entertainment and fashion sectors. With nominations expected in the coming weeks, organisers are promising an event that reflects both the legacy of the past 20 years and the evolving dynamics of the creative economy.

The theme, ‘Mirror the Magic’, aims to honour achievements across cinema, television, music, fashion, and now digital content, blending tradition with modernity.

Beyond introducing new categories, the organisers are emphasising “infused collaborations between real and reel achievers”, suggesting a mix of influencers, actors, musicians, and fashion icons working together in innovative on-stage presentations.

While the exact performances and pairings remain under wraps, organisers suggest the show will feature unexpected moments that reflect Pakistan’s contemporary creative spirit.

The LSAs have historically served as a benchmark for excellence. Over the past two decades, the awards have recognised outstanding contributions in television, film, music, and fashion, establishing themselves as the country’s longest-running pop culture celebration.

The return to a full-scale, in-person event is intended to reaffirm this position while acknowledging the changing ways audiences engage with content.

The addition of the digital content category is particularly significant, reflecting the growth of online platforms and the evolving role of creators in shaping Pakistan’s entertainment landscape.

By honouring content creators, the LSAs acknowledge the broader creative economy and the ways storytelling has expanded beyond conventional media formats, appealing to younger and more digitally connected audiences.

The awards will also bring the country’s creative community together after years of scattered and disrupted events. By combining traditional categories with digital innovation, the LSAs aim to celebrate both legacy and forward-looking excellence, offering a platform for seasoned professionals, emerging talents, and digital pioneers alike.

As Pakistan’s entertainment industry continues to evolve, the 24th Lux Style Awards are poised to act as a cultural showcase for local talent, highlighting the country’s achievements in storytelling, music, fashion, and performance arts.

With Karachi as the host city, organisers are promising a ceremony that will blend glamour, innovation, and audience engagement, offering both a nod to history and a vision for the future.

In sum, the 24th LSAs represent more than an awards show – they reflect the resilience and creativity of Pakistan’s entertainment and fashion industries. After years of virtual editions, cancellations, and geopolitical disruptions, the ceremony is set to re-establish itself as a landmark celebration, bridging traditional artistry with the digital age and presenting the nation’s creative talent to the world.
