Kelce fuels wedding buzz with ‘I can’t wait’

Podcast remark sets off fresh wave of speculation around Swift-Kelce July wedding

“I can’t wait” are just three words, but for millions of Swifties and football fans alike, Travis Kelce’s latest comments about his upcoming wedding to Taylor Swift carried the weight of a thousand love songs.

The 36-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end spoke these three words with a smile during Wednesday’s episode of the ‘New Heights’ podcast. The moment had arrived organically. Guest Rory McIlroy, the professional golfer who married Erica Stoll in 2017, was describing the feeling of walking down the aisle.

“Travis, you’ll feel this this year whenever you’re sitting at your wedding and you have all the people in a room from … your childhood,” McIlroy said. “It’s surreal.” Kelce’s response was immediate. “I can’t wait”, he said with a smile.

According some newspaper reports, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are set to marry on July 3 in New York City. Save-the-dates reportedly went out last month, and the guest list is so star-studded that Michael Rubin moved his annual Fourth of July party to avoid a scheduling clash.

The Kelce family has remained impressively tight-lipped. Kylie Kelce, Travis’s sister-in-law, told the ‘Today’ show in January she had “no idea” about details. By April, her tone had shifted to playful defiance. “Nobody’s telling you anything,” she said on her podcast.

Donna Kelce, Travis’s mother, insisted in February that she hadn’t signed an NDA – not because one doesn’t exist, but because her son and future daughter-in-law “know [she] can keep a secret.”

For a while, speculation pointed toward a June 13 ceremony in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, near Swift’s seaside estate. But luxury wedding planner Tara Guérard publicly shut that down, and the town manager confirmed officials had “no knowledge of a wedding taking place in June.”

For celebrity couples under intense public scrutiny, keeping wedding plans private becomes part of the strategy itself. Some guests may not even know the venue until the last moment. Singer Maren Morris recently revealed she received a text message invitation to the wedding – and assumed it was spam.

Beyond the wedding speculation, Wednesday’s podcast offered something perhaps more revealing: a glimpse into how Swift has changed Kelce’s everyday life. The conversation turned to food when Jason Kelce observed that Swift has “definitely expanded” Travis’s palate.

The podcast’s producer joked that Swift feeds Kelce “airplane food” – mimicking the gesture of feeding a child – leaving the Kelces in stitches. Kelce has previously admitted to being a picky eater, but since his relationship with the 14-time Grammy winner began in July 2023, that has changed.

His favorite new food? The sourdough bread Swift bakes herself. When Kelce broke one of her antique chairs in February, he joked: “I broke Taylor’s chair with the weight I gained from her sourdough bread.”

The couple began dating in July 2023. By February 2024, she was celebrating his Super Bowl victory on the field. Kelce got down on one knee in August 2025 – remarkably, after having Swift as a guest on “New Heights.” The proposal photos showed the couple embracing in the snow.

Now, with a July 3 wedding date reportedly set, the countdown is officially on. Fans have speculated that the wedding will take place before NFL training season begins in mid-July, giving the couple a brief window for a honeymoon before Kelce returns to the field for his 14th season with the Chiefs.
