Shaan Shahid questions lack of experimentation in films

Shaan Shahid talks about film industry, saying success is measured by hype while creativity is often ignored

In a recent interview, veteran actor Shaan Shahid shared his thoughts on the current state of the film industry, and his comments have sparked conversation online. Speaking openly, Shaan said that actors like Humayun Saeed and Fahad Mustafa seem to be working within their comfort zones instead of exploring something new.

He made it clear that this was not a criticism of their talent. According to him, both actors know what works for them and continue to follow that path, but he believes that growth comes when artists take risks and try different kinds of roles.

Shaan also pointed out a bigger issue within the industry. He said that films today are often judged more by box office numbers and hype rather than the actual work being put on screen. In his view, big budgets and strong marketing do not always mean a strong film.

Talking about his own work, Shaan’s film Bullah was recently released this Eidul Fitr. He is also set to appear in his next film, Psycho, which is scheduled for Eid ul Azha, where he stars opposite Meera.

He further shared that the industry needs more original stories and fresh ideas. He feels things are becoming too safe, with less experimentation, which slows down creative growth. His comments reflect a wider concern that while Pakistani cinema has seen success in recent years, there is still space to push boundaries and try something different.
